About

About the Cafe

Located in The Park at 500 District Drive, Cafe Exchange is meant to be a destination to connect, share books or art, and enjoy well-made coffee, organic wines and delicious food together. A lot of effort was put into making sure every product, from the food ingredients and bean selection to the variety of natural and organic wines and even the in-house syrups, is as ethically sourced and minimally processed as possible. Our Café is dedicated to building a more forward-thinking approach to drinks and the food we serve while also creating an open welcoming environment that embraces new ideas and cultures.

There is a lot going on in this dynamic space, including a used book library, a community book exchange, a bookstore selection, a greeting card craft station, and a stage to showcase performances and readings. With plenty of space to enjoy our coffee and food offerings during the day or our wine and desserts at night, our unique space is the perfect destination for catering or hosting an event.

Our Story

Cafe Exchange was created to fill the need for a welcoming place where the community could gather, connect, and unwind. It was an important ambition when creating this space to invite the community to express themselves amongst peers. Whether that is through reading poetry on community performance nights on our stage or by writing a personal greeting card in our crafting station.

We want people to feel comfortable sharing their stories and creations openly for all to see. Even posting your written material on our shared bulletins where all patrons can see. The goal was to craft the perfect space that would fill these gaps for local readers and writers to have a place to escape to during the day. The space is also perfect for those getting off work at night who want to relax with a glass of wine and make connections with fellow enthusiasts without all the stress. We hope Cafe Exchange becomes a staple in the community as a place where everyone can slow down, discover something new, and feel at home.

The Food

Our concept is proud to work with and be a part of the Table & Banter Hospitality group that supports local restaurants with the highest quality and ethically sourced foods along with a fantastic network of chefs, bakers and beverage specialists that helped curate the perfect menu for this space. Everything from the syrups in our drinks to the freshly baked pastries, desserts, and breads are made in-house with quality ingredients.

Tea

Over 25 years, In Pursuit of Tea has been dedicated to producing the most authentic and traditional teas of the highest quality. They do not blend lots or add flavorings, believing that within its leaves, each true tea contains the promise of a new journey, full of wonder and peace. They work directly with tea farmers to support traditional agriculture and to source the best tea available. Utilizing centuries-old techniques passed down by ancestors to ensure they are devoted to the quality of their product.

The Arts

The Bookkeeper’s Folly is a site-specific installation conceptualized and handcrafted by local sculptor Alexandra Marie for Cafe Exchange. Created from original book pages, steel, and polyethylene terephthalate, the work transforms the familiar material of the printed page into dynamic sculptural forms that move beyond the confines of the books and into the surrounding space. Through a process of manipulating, preserving, and assembling individual pages, The Bookkeeper’s Folly draws on the transformative nature of sculpture to bring a sense of magical realism into the rooms. Blurring the line between the familiar and the fantastical, the work invites moments of escapism throughout Cafe Exchange. Designed specifically for the architecture and character of Cafe Exchange, The Bookkeeper’s Folly becomes part of the space itself, allowing visitors to encounter books and their pages in unexpected dimensions.
